In order to become a foster parent, you must:
- be 21 years or older
- not have health problems that interfere or limit your ability to care for a child
- be of good moral character
- provide sleeping accommodations required by the State of California (will be explained in detail at orientation)
- meet specific safety and health requirements
- have family members and others who’ll come into regular contact with the child undergo a criminal background check
- provide personal references
- cover your own housing, food, and personal needs
